The traffic department would continue the checkingdrive till 9th September. The Navi Mumbai traffic department has stated that their drive against illegal school transport vehicles had started from last week and would continue till the 9th of September. The drive will include the checking the all the school buses. After the Panvel school bus tragedy last week, the traffic department has started this drive. Action is also being taken against illegal autos and tempos that transport school children in a dangerous manner. The drive has upset the bus contractors’ association, who have decided to go on strike. However, the traffic department says that safety rules are necessary to avoid tragedies. The Navi Mumbai RTO has forwarded a proposal to the Mantralaya that all school buses must have an emergency exit door, instead of merely having an emergency exit window at the back of the vehicle.
