Standing Committee Chairman Ramesh Shinde was given an earful by his own party corporator Shivram Patil at this week’s Standing Committee meeting. The debate was on the functioning of private schools. What was said and how did it once again bring out the rift between senior NCP corporators and Standing Committee Chairman Ramesh Shinde.
To his credit; Standing Committee Chairman Ramesh Shinde is a loyal party worker. But this does not mean that he can be a good leader to head the Standing Committee, does it? We aren’t raising these doubts, but time and again his own party corporators speak of it. This week when senior NCP corporator Shivram Patil taunted at the Chairman Ramesh Shinde during the meeting, the rift could be seen easily. The topic of discussion was the functioning of private schools in Navi Mumbai. Members raised doubts and concerns on irregularities and arbitrary style of functioning of most private schools. It was during this debate that Shivram Patil reminded Ramesh Shinde that he was sitting as the Chairman for the people of the city.
NCP Corporator Shivram Patil told Chairman Ramesh Shinde that the Chairman was the boss and members wanted to listen to what the Chairman’s opinion was on issues raised by members. On another attempt of explanation by Ramesh Shinde, Shivram Patil retorted without hesitation. Looks like the Standing Committee Chairman Ramesh Shinde does not even need the opposition to criticize him. His own party corporators are exposing his inability, lack of knowledge and capability to handle the affairs of the most important committee directly responsible for utilization of public taxes in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
