A row broke over in the last NMMC General Body meeting over a proposal to construct a daily market in Congress corporator Indumati Bhagat’s ward. The proposal was demanded by Congress corporator Namdeo Bhagat and Indumati Bhagat but on a suggestion of NCP corporator Vineet Palkar, the proposal was rejected on grounds of reserving the plot for cultural purpose instead of building a market there. An angered Bhagat protested the suggestion of Vineet Palkar. Suraj Patil joined the argument by lashing out at Namdeo Bhagat and Indumati Bhagat, triggering Namdeo Bhagat to dare Suraj Patil.

Namdeo Bhagat even taunted at Mayor Sagar Naik over the Naiks humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha polls.

The proposal was however rejected by ruling NCP party. Namdeo Bhagat has decided to file a PIL against NMMC for this. When the media spoke to Mayor Sagar Naik, he said that Namdeo Bhagat is a fool.

Reacting to this, Namdeo Bhagat questioned the educational qualifications of the Mayor.

It is being said that the proposal to build the market was opposed by NCP at the behest of NCP corporator Suraj Patil. NCP’s own corporators say that Suraj Patil has been constantly interfering in the civic works in Bhagats wards, playing politics against public interest. This is the reason why Suraj Patil’s party colleague Shivram Patil voted in favor of Indumati Bhagat’s proposal in the general body meeting. Bureau report
