All the leaders were addressing thousands of farmers and party workers who had gathered at Digha – Airoli to participate in the grand farmers’ get together organized to pay their gratitude to NCP Supremo and Union Agriculture Sharad Pawar for the Rs. 60, 000 loan waiver scheme in the union budget. Speaking to NMTV News, Home Minister R R Patil and State NCP Chief Arun Gujrati spoke about the meet. Speak to them about the battle between political parties to take credit for the loan waiver and this is what R R Patil has to say. Where on one side all political parties like the Shiv Sena, BJP, Congress and NCP have put up banners and hoardings to take credit of the loan waiver scheme, no party has the statistics about how many farmers will actually be benefited from the scheme. Farmers death have risen in the last few years and despite concerns, there were no concrete steps to address this issue both by the state and center. Why did Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar wait for the election year to declare the waiver is a million dollar question that only the NCP leaders can answer? From Digha, with Archana Tripathi, Zeba Warsia for NMTV News.
