Union Agriculture Minister and NCP President Sharad Pawar called on Congress President Sonia Gandhi recently. Sources revealed the meeting discussed the numbers of seats that will be shared between the Congress-NCP alliance in the coming Lok Sabha elections. While NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar termed the meet with Congress President Sonia Gandhi as a mere courtesy call, insiders claim that Pawar has initiated discussions on seat sharing for the coming Lok Sabha elections. Sharad Pawar was accompanied by his daughter and Rajya Sabha member Supriya Sule during meet with Sonia Gandhi. Sharad Pawar has maintained that the partners of the United Progressive Alliance must start negotiations for sharing of LS seats as there is little time for projecting possible candidates and nursing constituencies properly. According to sources in Delhi, NCP has asked for 50% of 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state and 15 seats in other states. NCP is also insisting that three to four seats in Maharashtra should be given to RPI factions in view of growing influence of Mayawati’s BSP in the state. Manisha Kumbhar – NMTV News.
