On the other hand NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar seems to be leaving for stones unturned for his candidates victory in Kalyan and Thane constituency. The NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar performed a rare act of a three-hour road-show, canvassing for NCP Candidate Sanjeev Naik who is contesting for the Thane LS seat. His road show reflects on how seriously every political party is taking the seats in Thane. Sharad Pawar began the road show early in the morning from Wagle Estate and toured entire Thane. Surprisingly, he got positive response to the road show. The 3 hour long road show saw the participation of the candidate Dr. Sanjeev Naik, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and other party leaders. Later addressing a press conference, Sharad Pawar added a twist to the poll script; NCP Chief Sharad Pawar declared that the Congress could emerge as the single largest party bagging more than 150 seats, while its principal rival, the BJP, would have to be content with 125 seats in the Lok Sabha. However, remaining silent on the leadership issue, Sharad Pawar said the Congress could possibly touch the magic figure of 275 only with the cooperation of the Left Front and other coalition partners such as Lalu Prasad’s RJD, Ram Vilas Paswan’s LJP and Mulayam Singh’s SP among others. Sharad Pawar’s assessment assumes significance as he is one of the principal contenders for the PM’s post. By admitting that the Congress tally would be “in the range of 150 to 160 seats”, the Maratha strongman, say observers, has offered an olive branch to 10 Janpath.
