apmc1Despite the construction of a new market for the traders of APMC market, it is yet to be open for the merchants and traders, with the latter still awaiting it’s inauguration. The Maharashtra Government after shifting base of the APMC market to Navi Mumbai, were to allot galas and shops to the traders and merchants. At that time, around 285 merchants were bereft of any shops and had to carry out their business either in the open or sharing space with other shop owners. Since that time, the merchants have been demanding additional space. Giving in to the demands, a plot was earmarked for the merchants besides the vegetable market of APMC. The construction on the plot has also been completed but is pending inauguration for the last many years. First the delay was attributed to the elections of directors of the association that lasted for 2 years that is from December 2006 to November 2008. Later on despite the allotment of shops, delay was seen due to Lok Sabha elections. We tried to know from the director of the Vegatable market Shankar Pingle about when would the new market be inaugurated. With cameraperson Vinayak Dalvi, Anil More for NMTV news.
