The NMMC and Lions Club of Navi Mumbai jointly conducted a monsoon awareness program at Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium. Mayor Manisha Bhoir officially inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. The city becomes vulnerable to disease like Malaria and dengue during monsoons. More often than not ignorance on part of residence leads to the spread of these deadly diseases. With the aim of creating awareness on this front, the NMMC and Lions Club of Navi Mumbai organized the event at Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium. Addressing the audience on the occasion, Mayor Manisha Bhoir said that it is impertinent that all the NGOs join NMMC’s drive to create awareness on monsoon illnesses. A presentation on the precautions and the cases of malaria, dengue and other monsoon illnesses was also made on the occasion. It was highlighted once again that the main cause of all these diseases are mosquitoes, hence they should be controlled. Apart from this, the audience was also informed how junk and garbage at home and societies can become breeding ground for mosquitoes. The NMMC also conducted blood check up camp and distributed free medicines to the participants on the occasion. In the near future, NMMC and Lions Club of Navi Mumbai also planned to jointly create awareness about Ganesh Utsav festival. Speaking to Navi Mumbai News Mayor Manisha Bhoir said that their program aims at highlighting how precaution is always better than cure. Navi Mumbai News also shared a few words with Chandrakant Dalvi, President of Lions Club Public Awareness Committee.
