NMMC Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe puts onus of Ambedkar Bhavan marble cladding on general body

NMMC Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said on Tuesday that the general body will go ahead with marble cladding of Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial at Airoli ‘at its own risk’. The general body, after a six hour discussion, instructed the administration to revive the project.
“Both the IIT report prepared by experts and I are of the opinion that the project is not feasible, on technical grounds. However if the house has decided to proceed then the onus of any future impact is on them,” said Mundhe.

┬áThe commissioner’s decision to cancel the project was criticized by corporators.
“Even if there is a report that raises questions, it should have been brought before the general body instead of the civic chief acting on his own,” said the mayor.┬áThe city engineer asked for three weeks before inviting tenders.
