NMMC NCP corporator Shashikala Maladi goes missing from Nerul

Nerul: Family of Nerul corporator Shashikala Maladi has registered a missing person’s complaint with the Nerul police on Monday after they were unable to trace her since the last one week.

Maladi is a sitting corporator from ward number 88 of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporatorshashikala maladi

According to the police, she has been missing since September 23 and a missing person’s case was registered on Monday. The police have said that family of Maladi resides at sector 3 of Nerul.

They have told the police that on September 23 Maladi left home for her office, which is also in the same sector. However, she did not return home by evening. The family thought she might be busy with Ganpati festivities as she is the president of Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav mandal of sector 3 in the node.

“We kept trying to trace her at our relatives and family friends’ place, but to no avail,” said Anuradha Maladi, her daughter. She added that the family waited till the final immersion as they thought she would be caught up and would return after the festival.

However, Maladi did not return and so the family finally approached police. Maladi’s family claimed that she was under depression as a group of members of Ganpati mandal, which she was heading, were allegedly opposing her after she was elected as the president. The matter had also reached the police and eventually the court.

“We have not reached to any conclusion and are investigating all the angels,” said an on-duty official. Dhanraj Dayse, ACP of Nerul division said, “The case seems a little different as missing case was registered after five days. Normally, such cases are filed within a day’s time. We are also looking other angles including if there is any family problem.”
