NMMC Standing Committee Chairman Anant Sutar has completed hundreds days in office. Being the Chairman of the NMMC Standing Committee – that has the keys to NMMC treasury is no easy task. Anant Sutar’s stint as Standing Committee Chairman started on a historic note with the approval of the 10% reservation for the poor at NMMC Fortis Hospital at NMMC’s terms and conditions. Who does not remember the fearless style in which Anant Sutar had challenged Fortis management and said that either the tie up happens NMMC’s way or does not happen at all. Besides this, Anant Sutar has been ensuring that public grievances that are being ignored by the NMMC administration were tabled and discussed at the Standing Committee meetings. Some issues being irregularities in NMMC Health Dept. during purchase of a victractomy unit with feuco emulsifier for the eye check up department at the NMMC hospital in Vashi. Issue of sterilization of dogs. He visited the Turbhe Landfill site before the crucial proposal was to come to the Standing Committee. The Chairman first studied the layout of the Turbhe dumping ground and later sat with the city engineer for the details. He informed that the next Standing Committee will be having a proposal on the Turbhe dumping ground for which he made a prior visit to the site. And last week he visited the NMMC Hospital at Vashi after there were continuous complaints being made and issues being raised by members week after week. Due to the able guidance of Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik who chairs every pre-Standing Committee meeting and support of his predecessor, MLA Sandeep Naik, Anant Sutar has ensured that the Standing Committee meetings are conducted smoothly. Immediately after being elected, Anant Sutar had paid gratitude to his leader Ganesh Naik and said that he would follow his footsteps.
