The NMMC standing committee completed deliberations on the revenue receipts of the corporation in the proposed budget for 2008-09. The Rs. 1297.01 crores budget could cross the Rs.1500 Crores mark, if the suggestions of the standing committee are incorporated. We first bring to you the suggestions made by standing committee members for the proposed budget. Congress Corporator Ramakant Mhatre suggested increase in revenue by Rs. 70 to 80 crs. He said that cess should be increased by Rs 25 crores, property tax by Rs 40 crores and advertisements on banners, posters, hoardings & streetlights & other fees by Rs. 15 crores. Congress Corporator Avinash Lad mooted taximg cinema halls for the first time in the city.
