The members of the NMMC Standing Committee demanded the cancellation of registration and license of Vashi’s Lotus Hospital after the rape case. The committee approved 16 proposals in the meeting. Saturday night there was an alleged rape on a woman in Lotus Hospital situated at Sector 15, Vashi. The issue was raised in the weekly Standing Committee meeting where members demanded action against the hospital. The issue was raised was Shiv Sena member Vijayanand Mane who demanded that the license given to the hospital should be revoked. Replying to the issue, the NMMC Commissioner Bhaskar Wankhede said that there has been an increase in complaints against private hospitals and clinics and NMMC plans to act within 15 days against these. The Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deepak Paropkari said that all private clinics are registered under the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act 1949 and the Act does not allow revoking license on this ground. That is why NMMC Health Dept. has sent them a showcase notice and after a month action will be taken. Informing about another violation by Lotus Hospital, Dr. Paropkari informed that they did not give details of employees and doctors to NMMC. This too has been included in the show cause notice. According to Dr. Paropkari said that when a criminal case is registered against any hospital, giving show cause notice is mandatory. On the other hand, NMMC Standing Committee Chairman has instructed the NMMC administration to communicate with all private hospitals and take action against those indulging in violations. The issue of Lotus Hospital rape case was taken up after the members approved 16 proposals tabled at the meeting. With cameraperson Satish Garud, Monika Bhosale for NMTV News.
