Allegations and accusation over the Bhise scam reverberated the NMMC Standing Committee meetings this week. With the first standing committee of the week seeing discussions and allegations on the final audit report of the Bhise scam, the second meeting was expected to conclude discussions. But the meeting started off with the Chairman informing the members that they will hold a special standing committee meet to discuss the Bhise scam. He said that he has ordered for a conclusive report on the Bhise scam from the Auditor and once the report is presented, they will take it up for discussions. The Chairman reiterated the same in an interview to NMTV News. When questioned about the deadline of taking up the discussions, this is what the Chairman has to say. Sudhakar Sonawane attacked the administration for ignoring the need of constructing a school for children in Yadavnagar slums in Airoli. He said that the administration should have taken up the construction of the school on priority as the students presently are studying in a cow shed and sit on the ground. The Chairman instructed the administration to get a proposal at the earliest. The administration also got a proposal for conservation and preservation of trees in the NMMC’s jurisdiction but both Vijay Mane and Shivram Patil opposed the proposal. Vijay Mane alleged that the tree department officials never leave their office and the proposal would result in only wastage of public funds. Shivram Patil said that there was no meaning in getting the proposal post monsoon. Standing Committee Chairman stayed the proposal till the administration presented the final report on the issues raised. With cameraperson Abhay Prasad, Zeba Warsia for NMTV News.
