NMMC has come up with a beautification and makeover plan for the Khadan pond at Gothivali. Around 31 lakhs proposal has been approved which is bagged by Ajay Construction. Once upon a time being used as quarry for Nocil Company and then a pond, the Rajeev Gandhi pond is today reeling under pathetic conditions. Around 4.5 years back, NMMC had approved development work for this pond but the work was stalled in mid way which never was completed. Speaking on this pond situated at ward 20, local corporator Ramakant Mhatre voiced concern and alleged that development work of the pond was purposely being obstructed by NCP corporator MK Madhvi. Spread over 3000 sq metres, this pond is finally going to beautification which is handed over to Ajay Construction at an expenditure of Rs 3089975. The makeover plan will see erection of a security wall, red sand on empty spaces, garden development and jogging track. The contractor has bee allotted three months foe the completion.
