NMMT to start online booking tickets facility

Commuters using the civic buses will soon be able to book tickets online. The civic transport wing plans to introduce an app through which commuters can book tickets for AC buses online. NMMT is in talks with various companies for creating the app.

Shirish Aradwad, NMMT, general manager said that the main aim of designing the app is to provide better services to commuters, as a large number travels from the city to Mumbai. This also provides a good source of income to NMMT.

“We have seen presentation about this initiative by two to three companies. We are yet to finalize one, as the discussion is still at initial level. Once we finalize it, we will start the service on particular routes for NMMT AC buses,“ said Aradwad.

He added that after they conduct trials for the app, they will launch it for the AC bus service within the next two to three months. “The service will be later extended to regular NNMT services too. But that depends on the success of the app,“ he said.

He explained that the free Android app will have to be downloaded.

“The commuter has to select the destination and pay the amount, which will deducted from their debit or credit card. The app will message the booked ticket to the commuter and they have to show the same to the con ductor,“ said Aradwad.

He also said that they plan to create awareness about the app through media and putting up banners and hoardings at public places such as bus depots.

A NMMT official said that the AC bus service has been getting a good response from the commuters and even the cost of the tickets is less compared to BEST AC buses.

At present around 70 NMMT AC buses ply on various routes, incluNMMT-busding ones to Bandra, Dadar, Tardeo and Borivali.
