While the Indian Railways time and again initiates new schemes and methods to ease commuting for the public, some people are seen taking advantage of it. A similar case is with the smart card system. Indian Railways had started the smart card system to make commuting easy for travelers. With the smart card system, people do not have to stand in long queues in stations and with the swipe of the card get their destination ticket. However, this system has become a business for a few people. Kurla railway station is known as one of the busiest stations of the city where long ticket queues are a common occurrence. To avoid this, people have preferred to buy tickets paying Rs. 2-3 extra. The way it works is like this – one person keeps a smart card and issues ticket for the people at a higher cost like for a seven rupee ticket, he would charge 12 rupees, making a profit of Rs 5. These visuals will show you clearly what this person is freely doing with the RPF not paying any heed to it. We spoke to a few commuters who stated that this method saved time for them. This is not the first time that this black marketing of railway tickets has been seen, but the railway authorities are barely moving an inch to stop this illegal use. Ajaz Khan – NMTV News.
