Call it the NMTV Impact. Accompanied by our team when women of Vashi gheraod the Vashi Ward Office over the water crisis that has gone from bad to worse. When the message reached the NMMC Standing Committee meet officers assured 24 hours water supply from March 16. When Vashi did not get any water supply for a day, the NMTV office was inundated with calls to cover their grief. Women of the node that have been most harassed due to no water supply voiced their woes to NMTV News. Women appealed our team to accompany them to the local corporator. Along with Prakash Mate, the women took out a protest rally to the Vashi ward office where women gheraod the Ward Officer Balkrishna Patil. At the same time, the standing committee meet was underway at NMMC. Seeing the frustration of women, a call was made about the same at the standing committee to member Avinash Lad. Hearing about the situation at Vashi, Chairman Sandeep Naik instructed Water Supply Executive Engineer to speak to the office. Later, the nodal water supply engineer informed NMTV News that he has been informed from their head office that from March 16, Vashi will get water supply 24 hours. Navi Mumbai has never faced water crisis like the one it faces today. It can be termed as the worst in the city’s history. As the public run out of patience, the city will be counting the days till March 16 on their fingers for regular water supply. Hopefully this time round, the NMMC administration will keep its word and not fail the tax payers again. From Vashi, with cameraperson Dyaneshwar Mali, Amjad Ansari for Navi Mumbai News.
