Call it another NMTV Impact that after residents of ward no. 70 complained of debris menace and civic issues haunting their ward, NMTV took up the matter with the local corporator Shiv Sena’s Ratan Mandve. Taking cognizance of our report, the corporator took the NMMC administration to task and has cleaned the ward. Going a step further he has also put up messages on “cleanliness” in his ward. It may be recalled that NMTV News had aired a report on debris menace that haunted ward no. 70 at Nerul. Citizens had informed NMTV News that for the last several months, all the roads and pavements in the ward are filled with debris and fallen trees. Residents voiced disappointment that its despite it being a month that Shiv Sena’s Ratan Mandve became corporator, he had not show the enthusiasm like other newly elected corporators to go out and take stock of the problems of his ward ahead of monsoons. NMTV News then met Ward No. 70’s Shiv Sena corporator Ratan Mandve on the civic issues residents of his ward were complaining off. Taking serious cognizance of our report, Ratan Mandve took the NMMC administration to task and got the debris cleared from his ward. He also acknowledged NMTV’s follow up on the debris matter that pushed the debris cleaning drive in his ward. Going a step further, the corporator in a commendable initiative has also put up boards with the messages to create awareness on cleanliness in his ward. The responsibility of cleaning debris in the city is that of the NMMC administration. However despite Crores being sanctioned for this, the NMMC administration allegedly allow debris mafia to dump debris anywhere for reasons not hard to understand. That is why it the role of corporators attains significance. Ike corporator Ratan Mandve if corporators ensure that the NMMC officials are fulfilling their duty in each ward, debris menace could be tackled to a large extent. In this case, Shiv Sena corporator Ratan Mandve, despite being an opposition corporator, did not take raise slogans or protest for limelight, but in a rather cool and silent manner just got the debris menace solved. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that even other opposition corporators should take a lesson from Ratan Mandve’s style of working for the public in his ward.
