The Navi Mumbai Youth Congress Committee celebrated Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s birthday by women of Navi Mumbai. The State Congress Youth Wing’s Secretary graced the event as Chief Guest. To mark the birthday of All India Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, the Navi Mumbai Youth Congress Committee cut a cake. The outstanding aspect of the event was that women working dumping grounds, sweeping streets, collecting garbage, the women members of the women’s savings group of Vashi Village. Cancer patients were also made a part of the event to bring a smile on their faces. The event was graced by the presence of Maharashtra State Youth Congresss Committee’s General Secretary Manesh Raut. Speaking to the media, Manesh Raut said that since Sonia Gandhi has always stood for the cause of women in the city, women from the backward class too have shown their support to the Congress at all times. The Navi Mumbai Youth Congress President Dashrat Bhagat said that since it is Sonia Gandhis birthday they decided to honor women who toil day in and day out to stand on their feet. He added that they decided that instead of inviting and honoring women achievers they chose to honor ordinary women who are extra ordinary examples of hard work.
