NOW IAS TOO WILL HAVE TO PUNCH IDS WHILE ENTERING AND LEAVING MANTRALAYA

And it’s again from the Chief Minister’s office that more reports are coming in. The Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has made it mandatory for IAS officials at Mantralaya to get their cards punched while entering and leaving office. The proposal that makes mandatory for IAS officials at Mantralaya to get their cards punched while entering and leaving office has been approved by the Chief Minister’s office. An official order will be issued soon. It was a few years ago that the state had made it mandatory for the entire Mantralaya staff to get their cards punched while entering and leaving office. While the clerical staff followed the order in letter and spirit, the ministerial employees and IAS officers did not take the directive seriously. The ministerial staff took the view that as they had to report at the houses of cabinet members and had to sit in office for a long time, they should be exempted from this practice. Later a fresh circular was issued saying there would be no exemption for any category of employees, but this letter remained silent on the IAS officers. The contention of the staff was that the order should be mandatory for all employees, including IAS officers. While the then CM Vilasrao Deshmukh did not take cognizance of this Chief Minister Ashok Chavan did and has asked the general administration department to issue an appropriate order.
