For the first time, Mumbai and Thane Police will video film the Ganesh immersion procession on September 14. Policemen will be deployed on the rooftops of buildings to shoot spectators and worshippers on their way to the city’s various beaches. Concerned with the security of devotees, the police are leaving no stone unturned. At prominent locations in the suburbs and city, for the first time police personnel will be posted on building terraces for video shooting of the procession. Mumbai and Thane are considered to be the most favoured places for celebrating the Ganpati festival, attracting huge crowds who gather for a glimpse of the elephant God. Besides this, deployment of several companies of the State Reserve Police and the Rapid Action Force, bomb detection squads and mobile CCTV surveillance will be implemented.
