Frustrated by the high number of illegal power tapping incidents in the city the MSEDCL yesterday decided to revive their steps in curbing such incidents. Through an innovative scheme titled, ” Viz Company Aapla Duaari”. Reviving its initiative for to aid the people living below poverty line, MSEDCL has sanctioned connections to residents of slums in Kukshet village in sector 14 Nerul under the scheme Aapla Duaari. This scheme under the state’s Rajeev Gandhi Electricity Connection scheme intends to discourage residents especially from the low-income group from stealing power. Power connections are given at nominal rates and in special cases service connection charges are also waived. Through this drive they are encouraging needy residents to apply for legal power connections and thereby help curb instances of power thefts. Those interested will have to produce their caste certificate and BPL cards issued by the relevant authorities. With cameraperson Raju Sharma, Anil More for NMTV News.
