Like the NMMC Standing Committee meeting this, even the menace of stray dogs in the city became the main topic of discussion at Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s weekly Janta Darbaar. The minister has ordered the administration to come up with immediate solutions to resolve this problem. The menace of stray dogs in the city has increased manifold. According to NMMC records, Navi Mumbai has recorded 7000 people who have been bitten by stray dogs. Every year, NMMC spends nearly Rs 70 lakhs along with another Rs 24 lakhs annually for stray dog sterilization. The problem of stray dogs menace now is not just limited to certain areas but has become a problem in each and every node of the city. With monsoons, the issue has become also the grimmer. Like the NMMC Standing Committee meet, which was held this week, where the issue of dog menace was taken as the first agenda, the issue also became the main issue at Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s weekly Janta Darbaar at Vashi. Here, the minister ordered the administration to come up with immediate solutions for this problem. Giving one of his solutions, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik said that plots should be allotted where stray dogs can be kept and provided with shelter, food and vaccination.
