One of the most memorable baseball catchers of New York, Gary Carter, dies at 57

Hall of Fame, Gary Carter being one of the most challenging player, who helped lead the New York Mets to a thrilling world series championship in 1986, had spent 19 years in the major leagues. He was known for his rifle arm and potent bat while playing catcher. He was listed among one of the 10 best catchers of all times by the baseball historians and rose to fame when in 2003 he was chose for the Hall of Fame.

Gary was known for his easy to go character for which he was been nicknamed as ‘Kid’ by his teammates. Free of any scandals, he was considered a very down to earth person, who never indulged in anything wrong and a frequent attendant for prayer meetings.

Gary Carter was suffering from brain tumor which was diagnosed last year in 2011. He died Feb 16, at his home which was located at the Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The news about Carter death was later announced by the National Baseball Hall Of Fame. Kiran Kidwai – International Desk, NMTV.
