The entire stretch of footpath leading from the Days Inn Hotel in sector 19 C Vashi to the police Chowky has open drains endangering lives of the pedestrians especially children. In a planned city like Navi Mumbai huge amounts are being spent every year by NMMC in its infrastructure. And while it constructs, builds and develops what it fails to do immensely is maintain. A fine example can be seen in sector 19 C of Vashi where the entire stretch of the footpath from Days In Hotel to police chowky has open drains. This has become a dilemma for pedestrians since the drains are equal to the breadth of the footpath making it impossible for them to cross over. They have no option but to walk on the road. Pedestrians complaint that this was very dangerous for them especially during night time. And the stretch being a busy node in terms of vehicles, many locals fear wlaking on the road. The workers of the nearby petrol pump too are facing problems with the bad smell that the drains emancipate. With cameraperson Bharat Jaiswal, Vrushali Chitre for NMTV news.
