OPPOSITION CLAIMS SUCCESS IN EXPOSING FAILURES WHILE STATE VOICES SATISFACTION ON PERFORMANCE AS BUDGET SESSION COMES TO AN END

The opposition Shiv Sena-BJP alliance in the Maharashtra legislative assembly has claimed success in highlighting the ineffectiveness of the government through extensive debates in the budget session that concluded. On the other hand Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said that one could not expect the opposition to praise the ruling and voiced happiness that they could do approve 21 crucial bills during the longest budget session in several years. After 1.5 months, the state budget session finally ended. In their concluding statements to the media, the opposition Shiv Sena-BJP claimed success in highlighting the ineffectiveness of the government through extensive debates in the budget session while the state said that one could not expect the opposition to praise the ruling and voiced happiness that the state approved 21 crucial bills during the longest budget session in several years. State Opposition Eknath Khadse said the opposition had successfully managed to put the government on the mat on several issues. The opposition leader said that they raised issue ranging form women security to women suicides and demanded that the Rs. 2 lac 10 Crore debt ridden government reveal how the loan money is utilised and issue a white paper on the financial health of the state. He said that the state had assured investigation in all the scams raised by the opposition. On the other hand, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said that one could not expect the opposition to ever praise the ruling. Nonetheless he was happy that they approved 21 crucial bills during the budget session. The Chief Minister also briefed the media about the golden jubilee celebrations that the state has scheduled in the coming weeks.
