OPPOSITION LEADER EKNATH KHADSE SAYS 2.5 FSI NOT VIABLE FOR NAVI MUMBAI DURING VISIT TO MANAS SAROVAR

eknath-khadse3No other slab falling incident in Navi Mumbai at a CIDCO apartment seems to have gotten as much media and political mileage as Manas Sarovar at Sector 44, Seawoods. After Thane BJP Chief Suresh Haware and Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, now even State Opposition Leader Eknath Khadse visited the site. After the visit, addressing the media he said that 2.5 FSI is not viable for Navi Mumbai. Manas Sarovar seems to have gotten more than its share of media attention thanks to politicians making a continuous beeline to the CIDCO apartment where a portion of slab had fallen. After Thane BJP Chief Suresh Haware, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik, MLA Sandeep Naik and Mayor Sagar Naik visit; it came as a surprise that even State Opposition Leader Eknath Khadse arrived in the city on a Sunday afternoon to visit Manas Sarovar and interact with the owners of the apartment where the slab had fallen. After this, a small meeting was also held in the vicinity of the building that was addressed by the Opposition Leader Eknath Khadse, Thane BJP Chief Suresh Haware and BJP Navi Mumbai President Varsha Bhosale. After the session, addressing the media, Opposition Leader Eknath Khadse said that he will put forth three demands in front of the state in the next state budget session – one that there should be structural audit of all CIDCO buildings. Second that CIDCO or state should redevelop them at their own cost and that these buildings should be declared unsafe for human occupancy. The next statement of the Opposition Leader was major disappointment for residents living in CIDCO apartments and even builder lobby eyeing redevelopment project as he said that 2.5 FSI is not viable for Navi Mumbai due to infrastructural limitations. He went on to add that comparisons of FSI granted to Ulhasnagar and Navi Mumbai should not be made. When the media questioned that if illegal constructions in Ulhasnagar could be granted FSI to regularize them, then why was the state delaying a decision for Navi Mumbai where its own corporation CIDCO has built sub standard apartments. With the visit of top most state leaders of the like of Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and Opposition Leader Eknath Khadse, the hopes of the residents living in CIDCO apartments are high again with the city expecting a decision to be taken on the redevelopment of CIDCO apartments in Navi Mumbai in the upcoming budget session.
