bkcMMRDA plans to link Bandra Kurla Complex to the eastern suburbs via a special overbridge that connects it with the Eastern Express Highway. The six-lane, 1.25 km long bridge is expected to be built at a cost of Rs 125 crore. MMRDA officials have stated that special overbridge project was recently approved, and tenders will be invited once suggestions and objections to the proposal have been considered. The overbridge, which will begin at the MTNL exchange at the BKC, will go across the Mithi river and the Central and Harbour railway lines near Guru Tegh Bahadur Station in Sion, before joining the Eastern Express Highway near Chunabhatti. BKC is being developed into a major business centre for the city with a hotel and convention centre. It is also expected to receive a major boost with the MMRDA getting companies to develop iconic buildings and rent them out to businesses. Another major boost for the area in terms of connectivity will be the Metro rail stations planned to be set up at the complex. A monorail project is also expected to link the complex.
