PANVEL MUNICIPAL COUNCIL FAILS TO ACHIEVE REVENUE TARGETS

pmcDespite Panvel Municipal Council initiating many methods to increase revenue collection this year, the corporation has failed to achieve increased revenue than the last year statistics. The Panvel Municipal Council has been able to collect a revenue of Rs 6 crore in this financial year. Comparing the statistics of the revenue collected last year, this year too the corporation has not seen increased revenue. The corporation does not receive any tax collection from Khanda colony and New Panvel as these two nodes fall under CIDCO’s jurisdiction while PMC receives taxes from Khanda village, Takka village and Panvel city. With the aim of increasing revenue, PMC had also formed a special committee to catch hold of property tax evaders out of which the latter was able to identify 300. While sending notices to them, the committee was able to collect a revenue of 1 crore within a month. Giving another boost to its collections, the corporation had also made property tax mandatory for slum dwellers. However, despite its new schemes, the corporation did not see any major increase in its revenue than last year. With cameraperson Dyaneshwar Mali, Amjad Ansari for Navi Mumbai News.
