Ganesh-Naik-newThey created history in the parliamentary elections by dethroning Shiv Sena in Thane constituency and again created a record of sorts by winning the Airoli and Belapur assembly seats. With the waves riding in favour of the NCP under Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, the big question was – will the Lok Sabha and assembly wave continue with NCP sweeping to majority in NMMC again? The city got the answer as Navi Mumbai voted for Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik led NCP in NMMC Elections. It may be recalled that NMTV News had reported way back on March 6 2010 that NCP was all set to form the ruling front in NMMC following its victory in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. After looking at the first picture itself, NMTV political pundits had predicted that perhaps this was the first civic poll that was to be a very easy run for the ruling NCP. We had predicted that in nearly 60 out of the 89 wards in the municipal body, the NCP will make a clean sweep and they did in 59 wards. This is because NCP had an impressive progress report card as the ruling front in NMMC for the last five year while the opposition was totally weak, divided and without committed candidates. We reported that Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik’s ability to plant friends in opposition ranks, the failure of the opposition to make their presence felt in NMMC and high ratings of the NCP party in NMMC due to the three year brilliant record of public work of MLA Sandeep Naik as NMMC Standing Committee Chairman were the three main factors that made NCP a winner all the way. In fact MLA Sandeep Naik’s MLA at Your Doorsteps drive made NCP. The NCP creating history in Thane constituency with MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik winning the Lok Sabha and Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik and Sandeep Naik’s impressive show in assembly polls gave them an additional booster that convinced the voters that the NCP candidates stand the best chance to deliver the voters’ needs and solve their issues. NMTV News had also pointed out that the major opposition parties Shiv Sena and Congress were placed in worse conditions than 5 years ago. We had predicted that the NCP’s strong position in nearly 2/3rd of the total seats ensured them clear majority – making this the easiest battle for the ballot for the ruling NCP in Navi Mumbai, giving the party supreme authority in the city from Delhi to gully. All our predictions came true as Navi Mumbai has voted NCP to power in NMMC once again that too with a thumping majority. Out of the 89 wards, inclusive of NCP supported independents the NCP has won 59 seats while the Congress has won only 13 and the Shiv Sena – BJP combine 17. MNS failed to open its account. As the counting closed on April 12 – the voters’ verdict was out. The opposition had failed miserably to create any impact while NCP continued it’s parliamentary and assembly victory wave through municipal polls as well. NCP never looked stronger in Navi Mumbai. With the powerful trio of Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, MP Dr. Sanjeev Naik and MLA Sandeep Naik having personally campaigned for their candidates along with a convincing progress report of their public work and a weak and divided opposition makes, for the first time in NMMC’s history, the NCP regained power in NMMC with a thumping majority in perhaps one of the easiest battles of the party in Navi Mumbai. Having won Lok Sabha, Assembly and NMMC elections, even the opposition cannot deny that Navi Mumbai is Naik Mumbai.
