SC-online-2The distance to Delhi and prohibitive lawyers’ fees were two great impediments that dissuaded aggrieved persons from filing petitions in the Supreme Court. However, these factors are no more worry of the common man as filing petitions in Supreme Court is just a click of the mouse away. On Gandhi Jayanthi, these services were made available for the country, as Internet is now all that you need to move to Supreme Court for justice. This will also help one save the hefty packets paid to lawyers as fees. For anyone who wishes to petition in Supreme Court through the Internet, you have to pay a meagre Rs 1.50 per page of the petition, to be paid through credit or debit card. The petitioner will not be charged any additional court fee or processing fee, as is the practice at present. To e-file a petition in the apex court, the petitioner could take the help of an advocate-on-record, the only authorized persons now to file the plea. All advocates-on record would be given a password to file petitions using the court’s website, However, if a petitioner wants to file the plea on his own, he has to scan either his ration card, PAN card, driving licence or voter I-card as proof. Even responses from people to whom the court has issued notices can be filed online, saving them an expensive trip to Delhi.
