With the aim of maintaining the greenery of the city, BMC has taken some strict measures and ordered every builder and developer to plant one tree every 100 meters. Any developer not doing so would not be given the occupancy certificate. Developers not caring about the nature and cutting down the number of trees for their own buildings are in for a surprise as BMC Commissioner announced in a recent press conference that any builder not following the norms of tree plantation would not be provided with occupancy certificate. He also added that any official helping the builder to forge a report about the greenery of the area would also be dealt with serious action. According to the BMC Commissioner, norms for tree safety should also be followed when a government building is being developed. Talking about the total trees in the city, he said that in the 24 wards, 18 wards had totaled up to 12.5 lakh trees in the area. The BMC administration’s initiatives if followed properly would go a long way in arresting the adverse effects of global warming. With cameraperson Abhay Prasad, Rajeev Mishra for NMTV News.
