The city’s police department will soon see an increase in its staff members. The state Home Department has given its nod for the recruitment of 464 policemen to the existing strength of 3,500-odd staff of the Navi Mumbai police department. Three years ago, the police strength was around 2,000 policemen. However, with the development of the city this number gradually increased to around 3,500 after consistent correspondence with the state home department. While the strength of the police is increasing, it was felt that the city’s police force was insufficient to maintain law and order. Hence, the state home department agreed to recruit policemen for the city. The new recruitments will ease the burden of extra hour duties being entrusted to the cops due to insufficient hands. DCP (HQ) N D Chavan informed there would be 464 new recruits, He informed that the application forms would be give in five locations and the procedure would commence from 8th Feb to 5th March. He added that 10,000 application have been released in which there is 30% reservation for women. Reservation has also been given on caste. N D Chavan voiced that the additional man power would be needed in the future. With cameraperson Raju Sharma, Monika Bhosale for NMTV News.
