Post the Mumbai terror attacks; MCGM has felt the need to upgrade the operations of its Disaster management Cell to tackle disaster all round the year. Earlier, the Disaster Management Cell used to be operational only during monsoons as this is the time when the city is more vulnerable to disasters. However, post the Mumbai terror attack and following the firing at its Cama hospital, MCGM has decided to start preparations for the safety and security of its important official buildings. The disaster management cell will be positioned at 24 ward offices, hospital and 6 regional control rooms of the fire brigade for 24 hours at a total expenditure of Rs 8 crores.
