As was being predicted, Prashant Thakur lost the elections of the President-ship of the Panvel Municipal Council. Amidst a highly tense atmosphere, the Congress candidate lost the elections by 8 votes to NCP’s Sunil Mohad. Neither form of powers could help Prashant Thakur retain the President-ship of the Panvel Municipal Council. NMTV News had reported earlier that the son of former MP and Congress leader Ramsheth Thakur could lose the elections against NCP’s Sunil Mohad as all political parties had decided to not support Prashant Thakur’s candidature. And the analysis came true as Prashant Thakur garnered only 14 votes as against Sunil Mohad who got 22 votes. The police had to resort to lathi charge as well when Congress and NCP workers clashed in the council area. All political parties sighted the reason of being unhappy with Prashant Thakur’s work as the council chief for not supporting him. Jaywant Mahamuni of NCP was elected unopposed as the Dy. Chief of the PMC. The elections are an indication of turbulent times ahead of Congress Panvel strongman Ramsheth Thakur in Panvel. Bureau report – NMTV News.
