President Barack Obama being accused by the court for exceeding his authority in making appointments in the absence of the Senate
Friday, the court accused Obama’s administration of going beyond its authority when they went ahead and appointed three members of the National Labour Relations Board, at a time when the Senate was on a vacation. The court criticized Obama’s administration’s explanations of when recess appointments should be made, anytime when they desire, be that a weekend, during a lunch or even at a time when the Senate is in session and he is merely displeased with its inaction.
However the White house has also criticized the court ruling stating ‘The decision is novel and unprecedented, and it contradicts 150 years of practice by Democratic and Republican administrations’. Kiran Kidwai – International Desk, NMTV
