President Barack Obama praises Dalai Lama but China calls Mr. President ‘trouble-maker’, Beijing

During the prayer breakfast in Washington President Barack Obama hailed Dalai Lama as a good friend. Speaking about Dalai Lama Obama referred him as an inspiration for freedom and dignity. A day before both the leaders had appeared together in public for the first time and it seems that the leader had managed to leave a powerful impression on President Barack Obama. Obama spoke about Dalai Lama as a powerful example of somebody who practices compassion and also inspires to speak up for freedom and dignity.

However, the Chinese media as well as their leaders didn’t take these remarks in good spirits. The Chinese media called Obama a ‘trouble-maker’.

‘We are against foreign countries interfering in China’s domestic affairs under the pretext of Tibet related issues. The Dalai Lama is seeking support from countries to realize his political end, but he cannot succeed. He is a political exile who has long been engaged in anti-China separatist activities under the pretext of religion’ as had been stated by Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei.
