Principals and students welcome state decision to implement school bus safety policy

The state transport department has asked for the school bus safety policy to be implemented immediately, in its latest circular to school bus owners. After a number of meetings with bus owners and parents, the department has decided to implement the policy and make changes later, if needed. The state government has brought the new safety rules policy for school buses into effect. Speaking more on this safety rule, Navi Mumbai Regional Transport Officer Sanjay Raut informed that a district committee is formed under this policy which have police commissioners as its members. The committee will see to it that the rules are implemented by the school owners. Apart from that, on the school level too a committee would be formed which will have the principal, a police inspector, traffic police and others as its members. While schools are yet to receive any intimation about the bus safety policy and their role, principals as well as the students have welcomed this decision of the state government.
