PUBLIC FUNDS DRAINED IN THE NAME OF ROAD WORKS IN SHIRWNE, NERUL

NMMC is all prepared to repair the roads at Shirawne in Nerul. As per the proposal approved in the NMMC Standing Committee, Rs 20 lakhs would be spent on the repair work. However, locals of the area have stated that NMMC is only floundering public funds with this approval. While the roads of Shirawne may look fine to the locals of the area, for NMMC it requires immediate repair. The civic body under the GRAM VIKAS YOJNA has decided to repair the roads and the contract has been given to Asphalt India Corporation. The work costing the civic body Rs 19,75706 is to be completed in three months. However, when our team visited the node, the roads which the NMMC was in immediate hurry to repair were in fine condition except for a few potholes. Something that even the locals voiced. NMMC’s planning also includes Tank Coat and Chambers for the internal roads to increase its level which is not required. Through our camera lenses, you can see if these roads need repair and if it not a wastage of public funds. The road requires minor repair work but the public representatives and NMMC do not think so indicating that this is yet another wastage of public funds. For minor repairs, why has the NMMC approved a budget of about Rs 20 lakhs when there is a possibility of the work being completed in less expenditure. When we tried to meet the local corporator J D Sutar and the Nerul Ward Officer – none was available for comments. With cameraperson Dhanse Mehboob, Sudhir Sharma for NMTV News.
