The Kasheli Bridge ahead of Bhiwandi would be soon redeveloped looking at the deplorable condition of the bridge. The proposal for the same has been sanctioned and the bhumipujan of the project is expected to be done at the hands of Chagan Bhujbal on August 25. The Kasheli Bridge ahead of Bhiwandi was made during the British era. The bridge is more than 90 years old and with heavy vehicles passing through it daily it became much weaker. However, now PWD is making two new over bridge and 6 lane road. The proposal has also received the green signal from the Union Environment Ministry. The redevelopment would ease traffic congestion in the area. There was a huge demand for the redevelopment as Kasheli and Kaler houses many godowns but as the old bridge was very weak, heavy vehicle traffic was stopped on the highway. Keeping this demand a proposal Rs. 211 Crore 79 lakhs was sanctioned. According to the new plan, the present heritage bridge will not be touched and the south facing bridge will be 552.50 meters long and the south side with be 135 meters long. There will be two bridges of three lane each and the south facing bridge will be built with an expenditure of Rs. 80 Cr 66 Lakhs and the south side will be made for Rs. 22 Cr 6 Lakhs. The bhoomipujan of the project is expected to be done at the hands of Chagan Bhujbal on August 25. This bridge will be built and operated on BOT basis.
