RAILWAYS GEAR UP TO PLUG LEAKS

With railway officials working overtime to outspeed the rains, commuters may be spared leaky compartments and out-of-action train doors and windows. Central Railways officials have promised that rain water will not seep through compartment ceilings. Besides water-proofing the trains, doors and windows, fans too are being repaired on a war footing before the rains. While trains are being inspected for leakages, work on putting roofs on the platforms before the monsoon is also being carried out. Work on the trains and tracks began a month-and-a-half in advance.
