Social media on many levels is playing the role of kingmaker in these elections. The down side of it is that fake and false reports are going unchecked. And what can be worse if this is being done by credible social media platforms of a sitting MP. Meet Rajan Vichare – Shiv Sena BJP candidate and sitting Member of Parliament Rajan Vichare. In what has shocked citizens across Navi Mumbai, his video campaigns are misleading and misinforming citizens by taking false credit of work done by NCP in Navi Mumbai and specifically by Airoli MLA Sandeep Naik.
This video on Rajan Vichare’s official channel is one of them. An environment enthusiast is how many NCP party workers define Airoli MLA Sandeep Naik. And it’s a known fact that it was on his continuous demand and follow up that the Flamingo, Mangrove and Biodiversity Center at Airoli came up in the year 2017. At that time, an elated Sandeep Naik had spoken to the media post the center’s inauguration.
Move into Lok Sabha 2019 and Rajan Vichare has not only fooled citizens in the video but even those who watch it by claiming that “he has given his MP funds for it.” When in reality he has not given any funds. On the contrary, Airoli MLA Sandeep Naik has given his MLA funds for this biodiversity information centre.
And it does not stop here, in another video made just on Navi Mumbai, Shiv Sena candidate Rajan Vichare has gone on to take credit for works in Navi Mumbai.
From the Navi Mumbai International Airport to 30 electric buses in NMMT to Gawli Dev and Sulai Dev Tourist, construction of Airoli to Katai Naka elevated road, widening of Palm Beach Road to flyover at Turbhe, all works claimed by Rajan Vichare, are either done by NCP ruled NMMC or Airoli MLA Sandeep Naik.
There is no denying that Shiv Sena candidate Rajan Vichare is attempting to fool voters across Navi Mumbai by presenting either misleading or misinforming or even false videos of his works in NCP ruled Navi Mumbai. This has also put a question mark on other works being claimed that he has done across Thane and Mira Bhayander. What candidates do not realize is that the mediums they are using to misinform citizens can also backfire. In the election season candidates without any credible evidence and authority seek to take credit of others work but in the digital age of social media it is easily exposed and becomes an embarrassment for them to regret later.
