A resident of sector 29 Vashi, N K Gheewala has alleged fraud by the Mahanagar Gas Limited Company. The Mahanagar Gas limited has entered in the city with its service of providing gas to consumers through pipelines. Consumers can avail of LPG gas at a reduced price through this service. Accepting this service, consumers contacted the company after which the pipeline was connected to their buildings. However, this very service of Mahanagar Gas has come under controversy. Residents of Prem Sagar CHS in sector 29 Vashi have protested voiced fraud by the company for supplying pipeline gas to their building. Nearly 80 families in the society were asked to pay Rs 6000 as installation charges by Mahanagar Gas Limited. In the month of January, the residents has paid up the amount in the form of a DD. Now the residents have pipelines connected to their building and installed Gas suppliers in their kitchen but there is no gas. Its been over six months now but residents are yet to receive LPG gas from these pipelines. Complaints were filed many times with the company by resident N K Gheewala but to no avail. Nearly all the societies have been connected with this gas pipeline and if the company is charging Rs 6000 for connection per household, then the amount runs in crores. Speaking to NMTV News, residents of the sector say that they have been fooled by the company. Some women even alleged that Mahanagar Gas Limited forced them to pay up for the connections. Now the residents are planning to file an RTI and move the Consumers Court in this matter. This is not the first time that Mahanagar Gas Limited has been engulfed in controversy over its pipeline gas service. Few months back, a gas leakage was reported from an apartment in Millennium Towers in Sanpada. The service provider was Mahangar Gas limited. Now these allegations by the residents of sector 29 Vashi have put a question mark on the functioning of the company which is very soon get connected to all the societies of the city through pipeline gas.
