Well, it’s not just the Union Agriculture Minister but the Revenue Minister Narayan Rane too who is the land controversy for the allegedly two contradictory orders on a plot of land near Sahar International Airport. The PIL filed by two social activists Chetan Kamble and Vilas Devrukhkar alleged that while holding the additional charge of revenue minister during his tenure as chief minister in 1998, Narayan Rane had given an order calling the plot as a government property but contradicting his own order, in the year 2007 as a revenue minister, he said the plot was a private property. The division bench of Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice J P Devdhar have issued notices to the state government and called for the records. The HC had in 1953 declared the same plot as government property. The revenue Minister’s reaction to all this is that he had only “endorsed” the decision taken by his predecessor during the Sena-BJP regime. Leader of Opposition Ramdas Kadam has also alleged that Rane had favoured a builder by surrendering government’s control over the Rs 100 crore worth land. NMTV Bureau report.
