The oust of Dalit Leader Ramdas Athawle from the reality show Big Boss had led to a protest in Thane where the party workers of republican party raised slogans and burnt an effigy of Shilpa Shetty in protest. Fifteen days prior to the beginning of the reality show Big Boss, Dalit leader Ramdas Athawle had been called in as a participant. Upon his arrival from Delhi to Mumbai, he was informed that his selection was cancelled. He was told that his height, him being tall, was not matching up with the team. Challenging this decision, the party workers of the RPI held a rasta roko procession at Thane. Raising slogans the angered crowd burnt an effigy of the host Shilpa Shetty. The party workers have demanded that the show be out off air immediately. BYTE 30.11 to 31.29 While these party workers inconvenienced the Thaneites with their rasta rook protest, if there energy would have been diverted to a better cause like raising concerns on the issue of the common man than their leader’s participation in a reality show that has nothing to do with the welfare of the general public, it might have worked towards a better cause.
