A waking up call for the Navi Mumbai RTO to penalize school buses violating rules was when another incident took place where the driver of the school bus barely missed an accident. The RTO has issues strict notices in lieu of this. With the CKT school bus incident in Panvel and a recent one at Vashi where the driver of a school bus lost control and barely missed from getting hit has rung the bell for the Navi Mumbai Regional Transport Office. The department has been holding sessions with school management and bus drivers to curb violations of rules and regulations. Speaking during the a recent session at Vashi, the Deputy RTO Officer Bharat Kalaskar, Asst. RTO K.S. Jadhav ACP Traffic Shrikant Dhivare discussed the measures to be undertaken in regards of rules concerning road security of school bus transport, fire precautionary measures and vehicles technical security. Also, demonstration on how to control fire was also shown. He further added that now it has been made compulsory that school buses have emergency exit windows and doors.
