Fox Studio has acquired the worldwide rights of Shahrukh & Karan Johar’s latest,”My Name is Khan”. Industry sources say that the joint ventured has been inked for an estimated for Rs. 100 Crores. An official announcement about the venture was made during a press conference where the first glimpses of SRK in the new flick were unveiled. SRK says that the venture is more of an emotional decision for him and Karan Johar than a business one. Shah Rukh plays the character of Rizwan Khan in My Name in Khan. He is suffering from the Asperger syndrome which is an autism disorder. He is married to Kajol who plays the character of a girl named Mandira. In the film, SRK is arrested as a suspected terrorist by police during post-9/11 in California after authorities mistake his disability for suspicious behavior. Shah Rukh, however says that the film is not about terrorism but about relationships. Karan Johar says that this is his first film that required external research more than internal experience. Karan Johar added that the film is a love story but the treatment is not what viewers saw in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge or Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. There also have been speculations whether the projections involving Islam might evoke controversy but SRK says that they have handled the film very sensibly and with sensitivity. So is Rizwan Khan going to win with the audience like Kabir Khan? Its unfair to compare says SRK. My Name Is Khan tells a heartwarming story of a Muslim man from India living in San Francisco and how he embarks on a remarkable journey across the United States inspiring people and inviting debate, creating an accidental revolution. With Karan Johar making the story and SRK playing the lead, there’s little doubt that the film will be as good as it sounds. With cameraperson Ranjeet Gupta, Sadhana Bhadouria for NMTV News.
