Uma Sonpar a resident of Sanpada along with a couple of ladies are educating poor children whose parents cannot afford to send them to school. There are the children living near construction sites where their father mother work or live in nearby slums. Uma Sonpar, a resident of Sanpada has taken the initiative of teaching these poor students for free in a very unconventional way. She said that it was her house maid and maids of other homes in her housing society who approached her asking to educate their children. Hence, she took up this task. Successfully going into its second month, Uma teaches them under the shade of a tree with the support of a couple of ladies and senior citizens. However, one concern that bothers these residents and slum students is the time when it would be monsoons again. The residents teaching here informed that each of them had pooled in money to but these students with books, bags and stationary. For the slum children, it is like their dream coming true with them learning and having all that a child should have while going to school. These students speak English fluently and sing nurseries and songs. Education for these slum children was a distant dream but with few generous residents of Sanpada it has become a reality for them.
