The future of the 30 candidates of the Thane Loksabha Constituencies were sealed in the Electronic Voting Machines. While the V-Day was held in Navi Mumbai peacefully, some areas did see chaos, one of which was Sanpada. A tensed situation prevailed in Sector 4 of Sanpada when the police arrested some party workers for violating the code of conduct rules. According to reports, the helping booths of each political party were giving voters slip with their voting numbers with the party symbols and the voters were carrying it inside polling booths. Inside the booths in many places, voters were being asked to go outside again and come back without the party symbols on the slip. This was inconveniencing voters. It was on this issue reportedly that the police arrested the helping agents of NCP and Shiv Sena and MNS at Sanpada that led to chaos and heated arguments between the police and party workers. Later leaders of these parties visited Sanpada. We spoke to NCP youth leader Sandeep Naik and Shiv Sena’s Manohar Gaikhe. When we tried to speak to the Assistant police commissioner, he refused to speak to us. While a tensed atmosphere was felt, the police managed to keep the situation under control. However, much of the trouble prevailed as the polling officers had not given any such instructions to voters prior to voting day. With cameraperson Raju Sharma, Anil More for NMTV News.
